According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in 2020, Canada admitted 106,425 immigrants in the economic class. This number includes 66,025 immigrants under the Skilled Workers category, 38,710 provincial nominees, and 1,680 business immigrants. The impact of COVID-19 can be clearly observed if we compare those figures with 2019 when out of 196,655 economic immigrants, there were 123,295 skilled workers, 68,645 provincial nominees, and 4,720 business immigrants. According to the 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada wants to attract 232,500 economic immigrants.
