On June 20, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development, issued a statement to celebrate the World Refugee Day. Ministers mentioned the plight and challenges faced by refugees, as well as the strength and contributions they bring to new communities. Refugees in Canada are an important element of society and the economy, with the country having a proud long-standing humanitarian record of being a world leader in resettlement and integration.
