Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a significant expansion of the Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot, raising the application cap by nearly 700 spots to 2,970 for the upcoming intake period. This enhanced study-to-permanent residence pathway, accepting applications from August 26, 2025, through August 25, 2026, offers francophone international students a streamlined route to Canadian permanent residency with accessible French language requirements of only NCLC level 5. The program provides facilitated study permits for eligible students enrolled in designated institutions within selected communities, while allowing both principal applicants and their immediate family members to access open work permits during the permanent residence application process.
