The Canadian federal government has implemented a new service standard for passport processing, introducing a 30-business-day processing guarantee for all passport applications. The initiative, scheduled for implementation this year, ensures that applicants will be entitled to a complete reimbursement of passport fees should processing extend beyond the designated timeframe, irrespective of application method. This strategic enhancement addresses previous processing challenges experienced during the Canada Post strike and complements the modernization efforts, including the enhanced online renewal platform launched in December 2024.
