The Manitoba government has announced nearly $900,000 in funding to five community organizations dedicated to assisting low-income residents and newcomers facing housing instability. Families Minister Nahanni Fontaine revealed that the grants, sourced from a $20-million endowment fund established with The Winnipeg Foundation in 2024, will support agencies providing critical services to Employment and Income Assistance recipients. The selected organizations—Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Canadian Muslim Women’s Institute, New Journey Housing, Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council, and Healthy Muslim Families—offer programs ranging from homelessness prevention and housing assistance to employment training, legal services, and integration support for refugees and newcomers seeking stable futures in Manitoba.
