The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce has unveiled the “New to Canada” program, offering a free two-year membership to immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to facilitate networking opportunities with established local business owners, provide mentorship, and connect newcomers with potential clients. The program, open to those who have held Canadian permanent residency or citizenship for less than three years and possess a valid Greater Victoria business license, seeks to integrate fresh ideas into the local economy. Funded by Air Canada, Victoria Airport Authority, Victoria Foundation, and Western Design + Build, this effort recognizes the vital role of newcomers in the region’s economic growth and diversification.
