Newfoundland and Labrador launched the Working Opportunities Program

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has introduced the Working Opportunities Program, a $3.5-million skills development project aimed at empowering residents to overcome employment barriers. Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Sarah Stoodley announced that the inaugural class of 44 participants had begun their journey in various post-secondary programs, including practical nursing, paramedicine, and carpentry. This program, supporting the Provincial Government’s Poverty Reduction Plan, provides funding for training costs, living allowances, and childcare to eligible individuals. Minister Stoodley expressed enthusiasm for the program’s potential to enhance job prospects and participants’ overall well-being.
