Saskatchewan’s labour market continues to outperform the rest of Canada despite international trade challenges, according to Statistics Canada’s latest figures released July 11. The province recorded its lowest-ever unemployment rate of 4.9%, significantly below the national average of 6.9%. With record-breaking employment figures of 636,800 overall and 533,800 in full-time positions, Saskatchewan demonstrated remarkable growth across demographic groups, including a 10.2% increase in Indigenous employment and a 4.6% rise in women’s employment. Key sectors driving this growth include healthcare (12.7%), construction (14.5%), and public administration (13.6%).
