The Ontario government is investing $56.8 million to train 2,200 additional nurses, reinforcing its commitment to a strong and sustainable health-care system. This funding will expand nursing seats at public colleges and universities, supporting the province’s pipeline of registered nurses, practical nurses, and nurse practitioners. A further $7.5 million will equip institutions with modern clinical and lab tools to ensure hands-on, career-ready training. Ontario is also expanding flexible online pathways for personal support workers and practical nurses to upgrade their qualifications. These initiatives are part of the 2025 Ontario Budget and build on recent efforts, including adding nearly 100,000 nurses since 2018 and supporting 8,200 students through the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant. With another 30,000 nursing students in training and targeted rural investments, the province is addressing health human resource challenges head-on. This action ensures Ontarians will continue to receive high-quality care, close to home, now and in the future.
