Canada’s rising track star, Tamarri Lindo, and his family have been granted permanent resident status, following a deportation threat that could have sent them back to Jamaica. The 21-year-old York University student, who recently claimed gold in the 4×100-metre relay and silver in 110m hurdles at the Canada Games, can now pursue his Olympic dreams without legal uncertainty. The decision came after significant public pressure, including a petition with over 1,300 signatures organized by Migrant Workers Alliance for Change and support letters from multiple sports organizations.
