Canada sees a notable increase in parents’ and grandparents’ immigration

In May, Canada saw a 48.8% increase in immigration under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), welcoming 3,185 new permanent residents compared to 2,140 in April, according to the latest data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This rise significantly outpaced the 9.3% growth in overall monthly immigration. Despite this surge, the year-to-date total for PGP immigration remains down 13.4% compared to the same period last year, with 11,115 new permanent residents through May. Ontario received the most arrivals, while Saskatchewan experienced the largest percentage increase.
