Cold Lake City wants to renew the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s Rural Renewal Stream

On February 16, 2023, Cold Lake City announced that the City Council approved a letter of support for the City’s application to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s Rural Renewal Stream. This letter of support was the last requirement for a community designation application in this program, which provides foreign nationals with an alternate pathway to immigration other than through a labour market impact assessment (LIMA), given they have gained employment from one of the employers accepted into the program. The Rural Renewal Stream initiative is a pilot project that enables designated organizations from local communities to select qualified businesses for participation.
