Canada’s immigration rate is set to exceed the targets outlined in the 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan, with 232,120 new permanent residents alone in the first half of 2023. If this trend continues, there could be a total of 526,360 new permanent residents by the end of 2023, which is 5.7% more than the target of 465,000 for this year and almost 5.3% above the 500,000, the target for 2025. Despite a slight decrease in June, immigration to Canada has been steadily increasing. Ontario is the most popular destination for newcomers, attracting about 38.5% of the total new permanent residents in the first half of 2023.
