On May 31, 2022, the Government of New Brunswick introduced new legislation to help internationally educated skilled workers to continue working in their professions in New Brunswick more easily. The new legislation will support improved pathways to employment for newcomers who are looking to move to the province and have difficulty getting their foreign credentials recognized. The Fair Registration Practices in Regulated Professions Act is in effect in all other Canadian provinces. If New Brunswick approves the legislation, provincial government bodies will have to create a transparent, objective, impartial and efficient application and registration processes, and comply with the Canada Free Trade Agreement, which requires recognition of credentials among New Brunswick and other Canadian jurisdictions.
