It outlines how minor children in Canada can apply for or extend a study permit, with a key update emphasizing the need for a letter of acceptance when extending a study permit. Minors studying at preschool, primary, or secondary levels in Canada without a study permit under subsection A30(2) can apply for a study permit from within Canada. They must provide proof of their enrollment (e.g., a school confirmation letter) and their parent’s Canadian status, if applicable. When extending their stay, a minor child can either extend their study permit or their temporary resident status if subsection A30(2) allows studying without a study permit in Canada. Under A30(2), a minor child applying to restore their status can continue studying during the application process.
