Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is modernizing its pre-removal risk assessment (PRRA) hearing procedures with a new policy taking effect on April 29, 2025. Under these updated guidelines, the department will transition to an implied consent framework for remote virtual hearings, eliminating the need for written consent documentation. Remote participation will be the standard protocol, although applicants will maintain the flexibility to opt for either on-site virtual hearings or in-person sessions. Notably, requests for on-site proceedings will no longer be categorized under accommodation provisions.
