On October 7, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced that the Government of Canada has temporarily lifted the 20-hour-per-week cap on the number of hours that international students are allowed to work off-campus while in session. International students who are in Canada and have off-campus work authorization on their study permit will not be restricted by the 20-hour-per-week limit from November 15, 2022, to December 31, 2023. Foreign nationals who have already applied for a study permit may also take advantage of this temporary policy if their application is accepted as of October 7, 2022.
