Refugee sponsor groups are now eligible to apply through the online portal for permanent residence

On November 6, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expanded the Permanent Residence Portal to private refugee sponsors, with government-assisted partners to follow, offering a convenient, secure, and efficient application process. Immediate application confirmations will eliminate email delays and expedite the application process. The Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) helps the transition with info sessions, training, and support. Sponsors must transition to the portal by December 31, 2023. From January 1, 2024, IRCC will only accept applications via the portal or mail.
